Dr. Herman Mallick

I moved to the Hampton Roads area from Philadelphia in 1948 and started my career in the Optometry department at Bartley’s Jewelers on Church Street. Throughout my life, I have always been involved in Jewish organizations and stayed connected to Israel. I went on several missions to Israel and one to Prague and Hungary, which provided memories that will last a lifetime.

I served on the Board of the JCC during the 70’s and have a great love for this organization. As a senior, I come to the current events meetings at the JCC every Thursday and know that it is a place that I can call home.

Over the years I have learned that synagogues change, leaders change, and people change and that without our Jewish identity we have nothing. I take great pride in being able to gift a life insurance policy to the Jewish community that has meant so much to me throughout my lifetime.
