John & Renee' Strelitz

Jewish philanthropy has been part of both of our lives as far back as we can remember. Our family’s have longtime ties to the Jewish community in Hampton Roads. My father, Joseph "Buddy" Strelitz* and Renee's father, Ronald Dozoretz, played a central role in the creation of the Tidewater Jewish Foundation. The values of tzedakah and building Jewish community were clearly passed down from our parents. We, in turn, are committed to imparting these values to our children, Julia, Jacqueline and Joseph, and have established a Donor Advised fund at TJF as well as a second fund in honor of our daughter Julia's Bat Mitzvah. Julia will now have the opportunity to contribute to this fund over the years as well as to actively decide which Jewish causes she would like to support each year. We want to give the same gift to Jacqueline and Joseph in honor of their B’'nai Mitzvahs. It is our hope and dream that our children will pass the same values of Jewish philanthropy onto their children as were instilled in us.
