Lois & Barry Einhorn

Jewish identity has been an important part of our lives since we were married 52 years ago. We taught Sunday School at both Beth El Synogogue and Temple Israel and have been involved in Jewish education for many years.

There are many aspects of Jewish life in Tidewater that have been an important part of our lives. The Jewish Community Center and its wonderfully diverse programming has been very important to us. We have been part of many exciting programs over the years, such as; The Israel Panorama, the Virginia Festival of Jewish Film and Operation Understanding Hampton Roads.

The Community Relations Council of the United Jewish Federation filled our days with many exciting relationships. We were part of the creation of the African American/Jewish Coalition and all its outstanding accomplishments. Jewish life in South Hampton Roads is rich with meaningful experiences.

Above all, for us, our life at Temple Israel has been the most rewarding relationship. We have shared so many milestones with our temple family. From Wendy's Bat Mitzvah and Marty's Bar Mitzvah to Barry and Wendy serving as President and Lois serving as Gabbai, as well as our attending minyon every day, we continue to be spiritually inspired.

Our gift is made with the hope that our grandchildren will have the same opportunities as their parents and grandparents to experience the joys of Jewish life in Tidewater.
