On my mother-in-law’s 80th birthday, my husband Ivan* and I wanted to honor this special woman with a special gift. With great respect and love, we created the Esta K. Bodner * Fund at Jewish Family Service for Senior Adults.
I had worked at Jewish Family Service for a brief time and learned firsthand the importance and value of the work JFS does for the elderly. I've always felt a particular affinity and respect for our seniors --they are such a vulnerable part of our population and we need to take extra special care of them.
A few years later, after Esta and Ivan had passed away, I started preparing my estate plan and thinking about my will. I wanted to leave something to the Jewish agencies that took such great care of Esta. These organizations reach out every day in so many ways to help our elderly. Although my mother-in-law was only at the Beth Sholom Home for a short time, they were there to help us at a critical time in our lives. I feel good knowing that I can give something back to Jewish Family Service and Beth Sholom Home for all that they do to make our community a better place to live.
