Rachel Schoenbaum

While my mom and I were discussing my Bat Mitzvah, I told her that I would rather have people make charitable contributions instead of sending gifts. She suggested that we create an Endowment Fund through the Foundation. This fund supports Jewish Family Service, an agency that does so many wonderful things for our community. Being a kid myself, I have a particular concern for children and families who don’t have the everyday necessities that I have. I enjoy being involved in selecting the JFS programs and services that benefit from my fund each year and know that as I grow older, I can play a role in meeting the diverse needs of those less fortunate than myself. Jewish history is filled with stories of people helping others and charity is an expression of my Judaism.
