Robert & Judy Rubin

A native of Boston, I came to Norfolk in 1956 as a dentist in the U.S. Navy. I am thankful that my grandparents came to America at the turn of the century and made it possible for me to grow up in this great country. I am grateful for my Jewish heritage and the values I derive from my faith. They lead me to be a strong supporter of Israel and to have empathy for the Palestinian people. I am blessed with a wonderful wife, who chose Judaism, and actively supports our participation in the Federation and our Temple. I hope our dear children and grandchildren will grow in appreciation of their religious heritage. Judy and I have been influenced strongly by the passage in the Torah that reads, "Do not avert the eyes of the stranger, for you were once a stranger in the land.” We interpret that to mean we must work to make this a more just and compassionate society - in a world at peace.
